TPC Deere Run is this week’s venue for the John Deere Classic in Illinois. The course is a very easy resort-style set-up which offers no real challenge to the pros. At least -20 is needed to win and Paul Goydos shot a 59 in 2010. It measures 7268 yards and is a par 71. The 18th is a tricky par 4 with water very much in play. It’s a pretty weak field as normal but Jordan Spieth notched his first career win here last year.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Brendon De Jong | 2pt each way 40-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: T45 Back Brendon De Jong Again |
We’re going for big Brendon again this week because we don’t think he’s far off. Fact is, when on song the 33yo Zimbabwean can make as many birdies as anyone. Birdies are the name of the game at TPC Deere Run. He’s had a couple of T7s and a T19 in his last four visits here and against this class of field 50-1 appeals. | |||
Chris Stroud | 2pt each way 40-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T59 Back Chris Stroud Again |
We’ve said it before, we think the fast improving Chris Stroud is going to win soon. He even rewarded our followers with a small each way pay out last week at The Greenbrier. We’re happy to assume his good form will continue on the kind of short sub par 72 set up that he thrives on. He’s made all his five cuts here and T15 his best effort five years ago. He’s a way better player now and we see him having a good go this week. | |||
Cameron Tringale | 2pt each way 50-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: WD Back Cameron Tringale Again |
We’ve tipped up young Cameron a few times and we think, like Chris Stroud, he’ll win sooner rather than later. This is exactly the kind of place he could do it with long term course specialists Stricker and Johnson not exactly at the peak of their powers. He’s in solid form and his T4 last week catches the eye. He’s only had two goes at Deere Run but his last effort (T9 2011) shows promise and can easily contend here. |
