The Memorial traditionally attracts one of the strongest non-Major fields of the season. The event, as ever, is staged at the Jack Nicklaus designed Muirfield Village GC. Tiger Woods is course specialist here but is absent with his much publicised back injury. The course is a par 72 of 7352 yards. The fairways are pretty wide but the Bentgrass greens are heavily contoured and lightning fast. It will take maybe -14 to get the job done this week. Matt Kuchar is the defending champion.

---|---|---|---|
Hunter Mahan | 2pt each way 66-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T28 Back Hunter Mahan Again |
We’re going on Hunter again this week as we truly believe he’s not far off a contending performance. He had three good rounds at Colinial and you don’t keep a player of his class down for long. We like his Memorial form of four top 20s in five starts. His solid tee to green game is well suited here and we’re happy to have a small punt at these odds. | |||
Charl Schwartzel | 2pt each way 50-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T8 Back Charl Schwartzel Again |
Charl is a very talented player who’s in pretty good form right now. He’s had six top 25s in nine starts this season and managed T11 and T12 in the last month. Dial in 22-19-8 in his last three Muirfield visits and it all sets up for a contending performance this week. | |||
Rory Sabbatini | 1pt each way 100-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: MC Back Rory Sabbatini Again |
Rory has had a solid season and sits 60th in the Fedex Cup. He’s in solid cut making form with a few high finishes thrown in. What catches our eye is the fact that Sabbatini simply loves Muirfield Village. Six straight cuts made and five top 20s is very impressive. The icing on the cake is his T2 in 2012 on his last visit. If you’re looking for a long shot with a chance this week then the erratic South African is surely it. |
