The Tour moves to Texas this week and to Fort Worth’s Colonial CC. This is one of the oldest established and traditional tournaments of the year. The course itself is a 7200 yard par 70 and certainly favours the straight hitters. The fairways are relatively narrow and tree lined, although the rough isn’t particularly punishing. As ever in Texas, the wind can be a significant factor. Boo Weekley was last year’s winner.

---|---|---|---|
Hunter Mahan | 2pt each way 66-1 | Ladbrokes |
Finishing position: T60 Back Hunter Mahan Again |
Hunter Mahan has had a disappointing 2013-14 season by his lofty standards. He’s had a mixture of good finishes and missed cuts. He’s traditionally not at his best in Florida but Colonial sets up much better this week. He’s got the kind of long game where he can plot his way round nicely and should find more of the small greens than most in the field. He’s got a steady cut making record with T10 in 2011 and last year’s T26. He’ll be coming into his best part of the year now and is well worth an each way punt. | |||
Chris Stroud | 1.5pt each way 100-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: T14 Back Chris Stroud Again |
We think Chris is a very promising player who may well win in 2014. He seems to be a par 70 specialist and his best result do far was a play of defeat at River Highlands last year. He’s a solid 44th in the Fedex Cup and has T13-T7 in his last two visits to Fort Worth. We think he’s a must bet this week. | |||
Tim Clark | 2pt each way 200-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T21 Back Tim Clark Again |
We like the look of Tim Clark this week. He’s absolutely the kind of neat and tidy player who prospers on a short, tight par 70 like this. He’s had a couple of 2nd places here, a solid T19 in 2012 and narrowly missed a place win for our followers when T7 last season. He’s had a poor run of late but is a player who can find form from nowhere and he certainly has the game to contend round here. |
