Valspar Championship - Innisbrook Resort - Copperhead, Palm Harbor, FL

Formally known as the Tampa Bay Championship, this event is again held at the Copperhead Course at Innsbruck resort. This is a 7340 yard par 71 with big greens, tree-lined fairways and thicker than average rough. Kevin Streelman is the defending champion. The course seems to favour the accurate hitters.

We feel Ernie’s got a few wins left in the tank. He’ll have been buoyed by his Match Play success a few weeks back and looks in decent fettle at the moment. He looks to have a decent chance in what appears to be a wide open event. His T5 in 2012 on his only recent appearance shows he could well be in the mix come Sunday.

Gary had a superb 2011, winning his first (and currently only) PGA Tour event here at Innsbrook. 2012 was a disaster by comparison with just one top 10 finish but he’s firmly back on track and will be fancying a good run this week. H’s in good current form and we’re backing him on a course he loves this week!

Justin is following the Steve Stricker method of playing a reduced schedule and concentrating on events he can contend in. He’s in the Innsbruck field this week for a reason. He proved at Humana that he can still compete on his day and his game looks well matched to this event. He’s managed four consecutive top 30s and was T4 last year. We’re happy to have a small wager on him repeating the feat this time around.
