The WGC Cadillac is staged at the usual venue of the Blue Monster at Doral. However the course has received a comprehensive makeover since 2013 courtesy of Donald Trump. The course has been toughened and lengthened slightly, although the signature 18th is one of the few holes to remain almost completely unchanged. Things can get tricky if the wind blows. There is a very strong field with all the big names present. Tiger Woods is the defending champion but is a possible doubt with a back injury.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Hunter Mahan | 2pt each way 40-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: T9 Back Hunter Mahan Again |
We think Hunter’s in for a good 2014 and he has started the season soundly with two punter friendly finishes in his last three stroke play events. We see a win on the horizon soon and he’ll be looking to challenge in some of the bigger events. He’s got a steady record at Doral, managing a T9 in 2011 and a couple of solid finishes since. His game’s in good order and we think he’s a decent each way bet this week. | |||
Graeme McDowell | 2pt each way 45-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T9 Back Graeme McDowell Again |
McDowell is another player looking for a memorable 2014 and he’ll be keen to kick on this year. Simply put, at these odds he’s a must bet this week. He’s had a T6 and T13 before last year’s T3 at Doral and he’s not going to be overawed by a set-up of less than 7500 yards. He’s building towards a win and his stats this season point to this. He’s 2nd for scoring average and inside the top 20 for driving accuracy, GIR and strokes gained putting. He’s well worth a punt. | |||
Graham Delaet | 2pt each way 50-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T34 Back Graham Delaet Again |
Finally, we can’t resist a small stake on the fast improving Canadian Graham DeLaet. Everyone knows he’s a winner about to happen and he’s come mighty close recently. He feels he truly belongs at golf’s top table and we think he’s a decent shout this week. A little inaccuracy off the tee will not be overly punished this week and if his putter is warm he’s well capable of challenging come Sunday. |
