The Northern Trust Open takes place at the usual venue of Riviera Country Club, a long standing and prestigious venue. The course is a 7279 yard par 71 with three par 5s. The holes are tight, tree-lined with small greens. Accurate hitters and good shot-makers are favoured here and the course sets up well for players who fade the ball. It is certainly a venue that doesn’t favour the ‘Bombers’ on tour. Generally speaking the more experienced players prosper here. John Merrick was the shock winner last year.

Ryan Moore | 2pt each way 33-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: MC Back Ryan Moore Again |
For us Ryan Moore is a decent value bet this week. He’s had a great season so far with a win already and a number of other high finishes. He’s had a T4 in 2011 at Riviera and a couple of good finishes since. Moore is a proven winner coming into this event with serious momentum at a good price.
Kevin Na | 2pt each way 66-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: MC Back Kevin Na Again |
Kevin has bounced back from injury and seems to be getting back to his best form. He’s had two punter friendly finishes so far this season and could easily add to his single tour win in 2014. He’s coming off a very nice T4 at Pebble Beach and his T10 and T3 in the last four years at Riviera catches the eye. No question, the course sets up well for his neat and tidy game. We’re expecting a really big finish from Na and he’s always at his best early in the year. 66-1 is a good price for a guy who’s just peaking nicely.
Pat Perez | 2pt each way 50-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: 75 Back Pat Perez Again |
We’re happy to go with Pat again this week after so nearly delivering another place winner when T7 at the AT&T. He’s one of the form horses on the PGA Tour at present and we’re happy to back his continued good play for another week. He seems ready to add to his solitary tour win and he’s got a steady long term record at Riviera with a T8 in 2007 and a T13 a couple of years ago. No doubt, he;’s in the form of his career and looks well able to cash in again this week. |
