The European Tour returns to Portugal this week after a mini break. The usual venue is the Oceanico Victoria GC which has hosted the tournament since 2007 so plenty of course form to study. It’s a 7209 yard par 71 and is quite exposed and wide open with longer hitters having a definite advantage. Wind can be a factor but it’s a relatively straightforward course and low scoring is the order of the day. David Lynn is the defending champion this week.

Finishing position: T33 Back Pablo Larrazabal Again |
We’ve got a sneaking feeling for fiery Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal this week. He’s had a decent season with an early win and a T5 three weeks ago. His form at Oceanico is decent (22-11-63-8) and if it all comes together he could contend this week against a fairly ordinary class of field.
Romain Wattel | 2pt each way 40-1 | PaddyPower |
Returned 15.33pts for T4 place finish!
Back Romain Wattel Again |
We think the fast improving Frenchman is on course for a maiden victory soon. He’s playing great golf at the moment with three top 10s in his last five starts. He managed a respectable T26 in his only previous visit last year. It’s not an especially strong field this week and he could well go close if he can maintain his current form.
Alvaro Quiros | 2pt each way 100-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: MC Back Alvaro Quiros Again |
The open nature of the course suits the long hitting Spaniard. He posted a win here in 2008 and has notched four other top 25s. He’s had a solid season but hasn’t done a lot of late. However he can find form quickly and we’re happy to have a small put on him reliving former glories this week. |
