Formally known as the Transtions Championship, this event is again held at the Copperhead Course at Innsbruck resort. This is a 7340 yard par 71 with big greens, tree-lined fairways and thicker than average rough. Luke Donald defends (after winning a four man play off) but looks a little out of sorts for an early 16-1 joint favourite. The course seems to favour the accurate hitters.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Zach Johnson | 2pt each way 80-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: MC Back Zach Johnson Again |
Zach is one of those steady players who accumulates wins without ever really making the headlines. He’s not really caught fire this season yet but we feel it’s only a matter of time. Johnson is worthy of consideration in any event where there is a premium on ball striking – especially at these odds. Nine career wins with two last season says it all, particularly in what is a less than stellar field. We reckon he’s well capable of contending at this big price and he won’t be scared of winning! | |||
Gary Woodland | 1pt each way 70-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: MC Back Gary Woodland Again |
Gary had a superb 2011, winning his first (and currently only) PGA Tour event here at Innsbrook. 2012 was a disaster by comparison with just one top 10 finish. The signs are more positive this season with a couple of solid finishes thus far. If you’re a ‘horses for courses’ punter the Woodland at Innsbrook is well worth a punt. He was T29 last year in the pit of despair and he should go much better this time around. He’s never shot a competitive round over par on this course and if this continues then he should be right up there! |
