It’s time for the Italian Open this week and last year’s venue is again being used. Golf Club Torino is a 7200 yard par 72 with tree lined fairways and thickish rough. Driving accuracy is an advantage here and the course is no push over with Julian Quesne’s winning total of -12 last year.

As we have said many times before, Rafa is having a very solid season and must surely be within striking distance of his next win. As usual, his game’s in good fettle and if he can find enough fairways this week he’ll be a threat. We’re happy to ignore his missed cut in 2013 here. He’s playing much better now than then.

Tommy is a player we rate highly and after a quiet spell he hit form nicely in last week’s Czech Masters. We think he can contend here too. Tommy’s a player who can hold form for a good while and this venue looks nicely set for his steady, accurate ball striking.

Alvaro has had a solid year and is coming back to form. He has already rewarded us with a 50-1 place win this season but what really interests us is his T8 here last year. He’s had a month of but should be back ready to continue his good work in 2014 and he’s picked this event out as one not to miss. At this price against this field he’s worth a small punt.
