Russia hosts a European Tour event for the second consecutive season this week. The tournament is held at Tseleevo Golf and Polo Club. It’s a par 72 layout of 7491 yards and is a Jack Nicklaus design. Most of the holes are tree lined with water featuring on many of them. Accuracy off tee and fairway appears to be a key to success here. The field is pretty weak so there are opportunities for the lesser players this week. Michael Hoey won last year.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Richard Finch | 2pt each way 40-1 | Ladbrokes |
Finishing position: T61 Back Richard Finch Again |
Richard has had a decent 2014 and has already secured his card for 2015. He’s posted a number of good finishes including a T8 in the Irish Open. He’ll be a lot more relaxed than most in this field and last year’s T17 shows he can be a factor this week. | |||
David Drysdale | 2pt each way 50-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T36 Back David Drysdale Again |
David has had a steady season and needs a few decent finishes to secure playing rights for next year. He openly admits to focussing on the minor events where he feels he can compete. The Russian Open is one for those. He’s here for a reason and he has a good record in Russia – three top fives in five starts. In such a weak field we’re happy to wager on his motivation and good Russian form carrying him to a high finish. | |||
Craig Lee | 2pt each way 40-1 | Ladbrokes |
Finishing position: T54 Back Craig Lee Again |
Craig Lee is in a similar position to David Drysdale this week. He needs a few good finishes. This is a big opportunity and he knows it. Lee, on his day, is a class above most in this field (5000-1 Yevgeny Kafelnikov anyone?) and needs to press that home. He’s had some good results and T8 at the Scottish Open should give him some momentum going into this week that others do not have. |
