This week’s European Tour event is held at the PGA Catalunya Resort and has hosted the 2000 and 2009 Spanish Opens. Course form is a bit thin! Thomas Levet won in 2009 with -18 and the 2000 victor was Brian Davis with -14. The course doesn’t seem to be a push over and the accurate, shorter hitters have prospered in the past. Sergio Garcia is the clear favourite at an early 11/2. Raphael Jacquelin won last year at a different venue.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Rafael Cabrera-Bello | 2pt each way 40-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: 74 Back Rafael Cabrera-Bello Again |
When Rafa was available for this early price we had to get on board. He’s had a great year and rewarded our followers with a 100-1 place finish at the start of the year. He’s been really consistent since and on his home patch. He was even T6 last time out here in 2009 andan early 40-1 looks great value this week to us. | |||
Gregory Bourdy | 2pt each way 40-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: MC Back Gregory Bourdy Again |
Gregory seems to have grown in stature since his win in Wales last year. He’s in good form at the moment and was T6 last time out. We like the look of his T8 last time the Spanish Open was last here and we can see another win in Bourdy this season. | |||
Alvaro Quiros | 2pt each way 35-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: 65 Back Alvaro Quiros Again |
We had a place win with Alvaro in China a couple of weeks back and the reasons for recommending him this week still stand. He’s in very good form and playing on home turf always seems to inspire the Spanish players. He also had a promising T17 at this venue in 2009 so we’re happy to go again each way this time. |
